The dot Command

The CLI for setup, sync, and git helpers across managed repos.

dot is the compiled CLI for these dotfiles (Bun + Effect v4), stowed to ~/.local/bin/dot. It owns setup, sync, stow, health checks, desktop helpers, and the git tooling used day to day.

Setup and maintenance

Command Purpose
dot init First-use setup on a fresh machine
dot update Pull, refresh config, stow, rebuild
dot system-update Interactive Dotfiles, Omarchy, and Topgrade updates
dot deps Native grouped dependency discovery, validation, and publish
dot updates Watched package and Dotfiles status for the bar
dot stow Stow only (public and/or private)
dot doctor Parallel health checks and a saved report
dot snapshot CPU and memory snapshot with a filtered process tree
dot firewall Reconcile managed ufw rules
dot setup-public-repo Trust and register the public timmo pacman repository
dot setup-private-repo Sync and register the private pacman repository
dot clean Remove stowed links / reverse setup side effects
dot completions Regenerate shell completions

Git and repos

Command Purpose
dot git-diff Dirty / ahead / behind state across managed repos
dot git-commit Guarded commits instead of raw git commit
dot git-notifications GitHub notification inbox for the shell and CLI
dot git-web Open GitHub URLs in the configured browser
dot git-releases Local release comparisons and reviews for managed repos
dot repo-induct Add a local repo to private git config after a preview

Managed-repo lists, browser choices, and notification rules live in the private dot-git.yml overlay. Branch and stack context for agents come from the separate context tool.

Desktop

Command Purpose
dot workspace-setup Launch or reuse apps and rebuild work/normal layouts
dot workspace-relayout Apply or capture a ratio-based layout on the active workspace
dot omarchy-shell-config Regenerate shell.json without a full stow
dot omarchy-plugin Add, update, or remove Omarchy bar plugins
dot herdr Shared Herdr server, repo workspaces, and attached context
dot launch-floating-webapp Open a floating webapp window

Agents and tooling

Command Purpose
dot agents-sync Mirror global AGENTS into agent harness instruction files
dot mcp-sync Regenerate MCP configs from private mcp.yml
dot run Run a command with a deadline and process-group cleanup
dot skills Check and apply skill updates from the skills repo
dot notes-capture-sync Sync notes-capture repository wiring
dot private-pkg-publish Publish a package to the private pacman repo
dot is-agent Detect whether the current process is under an AI agent
dot usage Local usage tracking for dot commands
dot agent-oxlint Optional advisory Oxlint pass for cleanup work
